BARLEY

Barley is one of the main types of grain feed for poultry. Chickens eat barley well, and it has a great effect on productivity. In general, grain feeds should make up about 70 percent of all bird food. A grain-based diet can provide about 55 percent of the protein requirement for a chicken.

Barley can be added to the diet of young animals after three weeks. Barley has a specific taste, birds do not particularly like it. Therefore, it is best to accustom chickens to this type of feed from the age of the chicken.    

Good quality barley is identified by its fresh smell and yellowish-white shell.
