Oats are a very important fodder crop, which has an important forage value. Oats are highly valued in feeding horses, breeding producers and young farm animals of all kinds. It is very rich in fiber, so it is given to pigs in limited quantities. Feed oats are famous for their dietary properties, which makes them such a common food for most animals. This food is used in the preparation of concentrated feeds, where it goes well with peas and beans. In terms of its nutritional properties, grown oats are not inferior to other fodder crops.

The nutritional value of feed oats is one feed unit. It is with him that the nutritional value of all other available feeds is compared. It contains 0.7% protein, 4.1% fat, 9.9% fiber. Also there is a certain percentage of phosphorus and calcium. Oats are also valuable for obtaining green mass, therefore they are widely used in the cultivation of mixtures and pure crops of oats.

Feed oats, according to GOST R53901-2010, must meet certain requirements:

- according to organoleptic indicators, which include acceptable color, smell, content of mineral impurities, the degree of infestation with pests, as well as the maximum allowable content of weed impurities.

Feed oats are divided into three quality classes, depending on the content of dry matter in it, the content of weed impurities and on how much crude fiber, crude protein and ash are contained in the dry matter of oats.

Whole grains of oats are the main type of grain, and all crushed grains and husks are classified as weed and grain impurities.
