limestone groats

Limestone groats are an ideal source of instant calcium. It is contained in limestone groats from 37 to 39%, moisture is not more than 0.2-0.5%. The production fractions range from 0.1-0.6 to 1.4-4 mm.

Limestone groats are much more effective for the absorption of calcium by birds. This is due to the fact that the bird's body experiences a special need for calcium in the process of egg shell formation, i.e. at night. Since about 5-6 hours pass from the moment of eating until the moment the shell is formed, and ordinary chalk dissolves quite quickly, the formation of the shell occurs due to the reserve calcium of the medullary bone tissue. Which in turn leads to the depletion of the egg shell. At the same time, limestone groats are much more slowly dissolved by acid in the bird's stomach than chalk, which allows the phase of calcium absorption to coincide with the moment of the bird's highest need for it, i.e. at night.

According to GOST 26826-86, limestone groats are made by grinding limestone containing a high concentration of calcium.

Useful properties of limestone groats allow:

  • increase bone mass;
  • increase the strength of the egg shell;
  • reduce morbidity..
